This friendship introduces him to the power of his own fists as he learns a lesson that will alter the course of his life. This was the first short film written, directed, and produced by Olivia J Carmel. She also self-financed the short film, which was intended to be a concept piece for a feature film in development. This was also her third collaboration with Director of Photography, Eric Branco.

Black Dress (2014) Lily (Emma Moody) has ironed her black dress for one too many funerals this year. When she receives the news that her friend has committed suicide and that she may not be able to make the trip to say her goodbyes, she is unsure how to process her feelings. This short film was written and directed by Olivia J Carmel in dedication to her late friend, Gabe. The story took on many forms before she adapted it for the screen beginning as a poem, morphing into a short story and a play, and finally a series of monologues. The dialogue in between the monologues was added with the actors later during production. It was filmed in the midst of a snowstorm with a small crew including longtime collaborator, Garret Hoover behind the camera.

Visual Poetry Anthology (2016-Present) Olivia J Carmel is not only a filmmaker, but also a poet. She's in development of her first poetry book and has been directing and producing a visual poetry anthology to accompany her publication. She works with a different cinematographer and talent for each piece letting the small team select the poem that speaks to them most. Because of this, each film adapted from her poetry is different. She hopes to complete 12 pieces by the end of the year and showcase them in a gallery for an immersive experience at the intersection of her words and visuals.
